Day 4   Volterra

tuscany walk 6.jpg

Exploring Volterra, through the winding medieval cobble stone streets is like time traveling to the 16th century.

Our walking tour through the town brings the two thousand year history to life with our local guide Claudia  who was born and raised in Volterra.

As we walk through one of the city gates, Claudia tells us how the citizens of Volterra blocked the stone arch to prevent Nazi soldiers from invading their town at the end of World War II.

Join us for a view from the top.

Be sure that you time your ascent of the bell tower to avoid the top and bottom of the hour.

Otherwise, you could get your bell rung!
